Hibiki 30 Years Old – Hiroshi Senju Edition
Where Japanese whisky meets world-class Japanese art.

JapanWhisky team delivered again, capturing the beauty of Suntory’s new collaboration with Hiroshi Senju.
In 2025, the House of Suntory unveiled one of its most important artistic collaborations: Hibiki 30 Years Old Hiroshi Senju Edition.
Ultra-limited, visually breathtaking, and crafted with extraordinary detail, this release transforms Hibiki 30 from a rare whisky into a museum-grade collectible.
Who Is Hiroshi Senju?

Hiroshi Senju - renowned worldwide for his serene, ethereal waterfall paintings.
Hiroshi Senju (born 1958, Tokyo) is one of Japan’s most celebrated contemporary artists — renowned worldwide for his serene, ethereal waterfall paintings.
He is a master of nihonga, a traditional Japanese technique that uses:
Natural pigments (minerals, coral, crushed oyster shells)
Handmade mulberry paper
A flowing, gravity-guided method that mimics the movement of water
Senju’s work blends ancient methods with modern minimalism, creating art that feels calm, spiritual, and timeless.
He has exhibited globally, won awards including at the Venice Biennale, and has an entire museum dedicated to his work in Karuizawa.

Senju’s waterfalls hover between day and night as he straddles the realms of industry and nature, the material and the ethereal.
Why Hiroshi Senju Is the Perfect Fit for Hibiki 30
Suntory chose Senju for more than aesthetic beauty — they chose him because his art mirrors the soul of Hibiki.
His waterfalls embody:
Harmony — the core philosophy behind Hibiki
Nature’s flow — echoing whisky’s journey through seasons and time
Purity and restraint — values shared with Japanese craftsmanship
Timelessness — fitting for a whisky aged over 30 years
Just as Senju layers translucent pigments to create depth, Hibiki’s blenders layer long-aged malts and grain whiskies to create harmony.
The philosophies align perfectly — making this collaboration feel inevitable.

The Artwork: “Waterfall on Colours ‘Hibiki’”
For this release, Senju created an original work using ten natural shades of purple, inspired by Hibiki’s iconic kokimurasaki gradient.
The artwork appears on:
The bottle
The embossed label
The presentation box
A custom byōbu-style folding screen display
The full collector’s set booklet
It is not packaging — it is an art installation surrounding the whisky.
